Conscious Business Model Design
We are all players of a business system programmed with 17th century thinking, but now using super powerful technological tools. This current game plan simply does not contribute to wealth equality, and is incompatible with the long term survival of the human species. It’s also _bad business!_
We need to innovate new business models as better pathways to prosperity and well being for all. But first we have to throw out our old beliefs and assumptions to start thinking in a radically new way and open ourselves up to real collaboration.
Canay will take us on a journey back to our origins, where we’ll learn from nature, ancient Greek philosophers, our own human values, and our dreams for a ‘good life’. Conscious Business Model Design and Innovation Model will inspire you not only to design great businesses for yourself, but also to bequeath a new narrative to future game changers, the children of this world.

Artist Residencies = coworking+ living on the countryside
papenwohld@gmail.com
http://papenwohld.com

Papenwohld NPO is an independent organization located in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein. Our goal is to promote artists and creative professionals and to provide them with a forum, a place to give their creativity free reign.

PAPENWOHLD ARTISTS RESIDENCY NO2
27th of AUG - 2nd of SEPT 2018

Twelve international artists from different disciplines will spend a week living and working together in Papenwohld. The result is a collaborative album, interdisciplinary art and a public performance.

The project promotes exchange between the artists and their different disciplines and supports their creative development without pursuing a commercial goal. The only aim is to make artistic and creative projects come into being. By linking different creative sectors, artists are provided with interesting stimuli to try out new ways of working. The program promotes contemporary music, regardless of genre, and cultural exchange, offering artists the opportunity to network internationally. The participants are selected and invited by an advisory jury based on a so-called Artistic Statement.

The Jury consists of:
Friederike Meyer (CEO, Buback Tonträger und Konzerte)
Katharin Ahrend (Curator/Culturmanager, Alte Münze Berlin, 2OG, Artlake Festival)
Ruben Jonas Schnell (Founder, ByteFM)
Sven Helbig (Composer, Director)

Wonder what your company will be like in 10 years? Watch yourself and you`ll know.
Business Model Generation, Lean Startup, consulting peers and founders – entrepreneurs put a lot of information, methods and hard work into creating a great concept of their future company. And as they work hard on bringing their business to life, they often wonder what the company will be like and what decisions lead to a successful future. But the biggest influence on how a company will be like is invisible: The personality of the founder. That`s good news, because this source of information is accessible and free. But also difficult, as it can be quite tricky to understand one’s own traits, beliefs and patterns of behavior that fuel or limit the capacity of future success. In this talk we shed some light on the impact, the founder`s personality has on the nature of business. And of course we dive into the fun part, too: Finding out more about yourself so you can predict and manage the way your personality paves the way to a successful startup.

Plastic in the sea – the Marine Litter Cleanup
Plastic in the sea is a big threat to all living creatures. Annually millions of tons reach the ocean as waste and increase the pollution.
One Earth – One Ocean is dedicated to remove plastic from the sea before it breaks down to microplastic which cannot be removed from the sea yet.
Therefore technologies are developed to collect plastics from the sea and recycle or convert the plastic back into fuel again. This development of the concept of the Marine Litter Cleanup is introduced including impressions of the MS Seekuh which is presently working in Hong Kong.
The next ship that is going to be developed is called the MS Seeelefant. This will be a converted container ship that will clean, sort, recycle plastic collected from the sea and converts plastics into fuel.

Before everybody does the same…A couple of areas, where we need new ideas to make the digital transformation a success.
The digital transformation is entering a phase, in which we need more than a few lines of smart code, data skills and apps funded by advertising to be successful. The next generation of innovation will have to create sustainable change to make the digital transformation a success. We need to be more demanding of technology and in the application of technology. It is not enough to call for humanity and societies to become more tech-compatible. This talk will discuss some of the key challenges and areas where complex innovations are needed at the intersection of digital technology and economic and social structures processes. It will ask how smart cities become more than just optimized traffic flows, how robots and humans could cooperate better, how coding becomes an everyday skill, how data can be governed without destroying privacy, what social norms are needed for the singularity and how we could build a big data business model beyond selling commercials.

DroneMasters Junior Academy

2018 finden mehrere Workshops statt.

Make Learning Come Alive
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

One sized curriculum, one subject area focus, standardized assessments, command and control, no choice are principals of the past. Anyhow these are still issues students and teaches struggle with at schools today. Coming from a time of the industrial revolution these principals are largely outdated. We need to make a paradigm shift in education and prepare children to live a happy and fulfilled life, in which they live up to their potential and get prepared for challenges of the 21st century. Project Based Learning (PBL) prepares students for academic, personal, and career success. It provides relevant learning experiences and readies young people to rise to the challenges of their lives and the world they will inherit. Through PBL students can make meaning in their lives and the lives of others by generating new ideas, solutions and products. IF(game)SH Gamejam Final Presentation

A game jam is a hackathon for video games. It is a gathering of people for the purpose of planning, designing, and creating one or more games within a short span of time, in this case 48 hours.

Participants either arrive in groups or find new teammates on site. Game jams usually run under a specific theme, which is announced when the jam starts. The participants are free to work whichever way they want; the games are usually in a prototype state when the jam is over. In the end, every team has the chance to present their game to the other jammers and an interested audience. After the final presentations the games are exhibited and playable.

Vision 2030 - How is your relationship to energy?
Participants will enjoy a brief inspirational talk (10 min) on the possibilities of storing and more intelligently using energy from intermittent renewable sources such as wind and sun. In a workshop style approach we will then explore our own relationships to the various forms of energy (e.g. thermal, electrical and mobility), and jointly synthesize our own expectations and wishes for our neighborhood’s energy system of the future and how we want to move around to a vision for 2030 .

Background
Power-to-X technologies using renewable primary energy sources already today allow for the efficient integration of the power and heat sector as well as power and mobility sectors. How the efficient and economically viable integration of these three sectors can be achieved, using for example hydrogen based technologies, will be discussed in this session using the town and region of Heide as an example. The participants of the session will be invited to explore business models and ways of funding neighborhood scale projects as a means of stimulating local economic growth and community participation.

Cycling without Age
Cycling Without Age is a movement started in 2012 by Ole Kassow. Ole wanted to help the elderly get back on their bicycles, but he had to find a solution to their limited mobility. The answer was a trishaw and he started offering free bike rides to the local nursing home residents.
He then got in touch with a civil society consultant from the City of Copenhagen, Dorthe Pedersen (now Cycling Without Age), who was intrigued by the idea and together they bought the first 5 trishaws and launched Cycling Without Age, which has now spread to all corners of Denmark, and since 2015 to another 38 countries around the world.

Startup culture growth
Start-Ups obviously captivate big corporations. Well-known for a long tradition of innovation and technical expertise, all of a sudden they start to establish incubators, spin-offs and accelerators. It seems as if those companies seek redemption from a bureaucratic, cumbersome culture by copying (the lack of) organisational structures, ways of working and more from Start-Ups. But what if a Start-Up grows? Can it avoid running into bureaucracy? What is driving “culture”? What is its impact on organisation, hierarchy, rules and communication, and how can we actively shape culture while growing bigger?
We’ll take a close look at corporate culture and also on the entrepreneurial attitude which can be an enabler and an obstacle at the same time.

AR, VR and the future of payment

Nevertheless we can see interesting use cases out there that try to dig deeper. We all can be sure, that the new devices will not be used identical to the current ones and so not every solution can be transferred easily towards the future.
For Fintechs the interesting question is, how payment processes will work in this future world. Omnichanel is still in all minds. Agile management like Google in Holstein style
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

The larger a startup becomes, the more important it is to define a clear company vision, mission and strategic orientation of the company and to harmonize the employees and their everyday work with it. Jens Buchloh successfully introduced the agile management method Objectives & Key Results (OKR) in his company ergovia over 2 years ago. It is the method that became famous through Google and is now also becoming more popular in Germany. Jens did not simply adopt this method 1: 1, but deliberately combined it with proven elements of his North German company culture - i.e. OKR in the Holstein way.
He can describe from his own experience how he optimally unites projects and everyday work with his IT company via the strategic framework. The result is transparency for all, how the work interlocks and references the strategic projects. This gives support and creates a sense of togetherness for the entire team.

Sustainable packaging
Modern life is rubbish. We contaminate our world with endless packaging because every and every product is wrapped.
Why is this? Well, packaging nowadays doesn’t only serve durability or transport. Attracting customers in an already overloaded environment and guaranteeing most convenient, preferably one-way, usage are just as important. Cheap & unsustainable materials are the result.
Not many of us dare to think about sustainable packaging because in the end it’s … just packaging.
Working as a startup in this sector means for us challenging campaigns to educate customers and the possibility to positively influence it – towards more sustainability.

AI Perspectives for Schleswig-Holstein - Winners
The inaugural “Artificial Intelligence (AI) – Opportunities for Schleswig-Holstein” network meeting was held at Kiel University of Applied Sciences on 31 May 2018. It was organised by Open Campus, the State Chancellery of Schleswig-Holstein, the Schleswig-Holstein Digital Economy cluster (DiWiSH) and Kiel University of Applied Sciences.

The event provided the first major platform for artificial intelligence in Schleswig-Holstein. Around 200 guests listened to some 50 short presentations lasting no more than four minutes. Live polls with Sli.do at the start and end of the event engaged the entire audience. Welcoming remarks from Minister-President Daniel Günther and from Dirk Schrödter, Head of the State Chancellery, illustrated the importance that politicians in Schleswig-Holstein attach to the issue.

You'll see here the winners of the public votes for the most interesting topics. You'll be able to experience them one again at #Waterkant18:

Prof. Dr. Maciej Liśkiewicz // Universität zu Lübeck
Algorithmic analysis of causal effects
Discovering and understanding of causal relationships is an important topic of empirical sciences. Analyzing causes of diseases, economic crises and other complex phenomena is of great social and economic importance. However, for ethical or economic reasons questions as “Does smoking cause lung cancer?” or “What are the major causes of economic crises?” can be difficult to examine through direct experimentation. On the other hand, there are often available large amounts of observed data that can provide relevant information about these issues.

Michael Martens // fairlanguage.com
Unfair AI - Let’s talk about bias and other nasty stuff machines learn from us.
We live in a world of machines. Machines, that learn. Call it Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), smart machines.. These technologies are almost everywhere by now and have huge influence on our lives. Often "smart” technologies are a great support to us, make our lives easier, safer, faster and more convenient. But! There is a problem! Machines are build by us and learn from us. And they also learn the bad, nasty stuff. Bias, stereotypes, discrimination. In this entertaining and non-tech-people-friendly talk we will share some problems and examples and give simple advice on how to do better.

Prof. Hermann Kohlstedt // Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel
-Back to the Roots- How analogue Industry 5.0 will be?

It is believed, that the upcoming digital revolution, characterized by buzzer words such as “Industry 4.0” or “Internet of Things (IoT)”, will lead to an entire upheaval of today´s manufacturing and selling procedure accompanied by, for example, desert factories. Will this development be an endless story? Not likely – there are fundamental limits set by nature. Any bit (0,1) we write, store or transmit needs energy. Information and energy (consumption) are inseparably linked. Therefore, it`s time to have a closer look at bio-inspired information pathways. Nerve systems, such as the human brain, are a result of evolution and outperform any digital computer when it comes to pattern recognition or cognitive tasks. It particularly shines when power consumption it taken into account – could we use such mechanisms to build more efficient computing systems?

This talk about smart networking faces the relevance and reasons for the networking phenomena, explores the networking mindset and provides practical tips and insights for the participant how to network more effectively.

The concluding workshop part will be a networking speeddating, which fosters the networking activities among the audience. This speeddating enables to adapt the just gained knowledge for networking into action.

The Google Ventures Design Sprint - How to create a future proof prototype in just 5 days!
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

The Design Sprint is a five-day process for answering critical business questions through design, prototyping, and testing ideas with customers. It is developed at Google Ventures, and labeled as a “greatest hits” of business strategy, innovation, behavior science and design thinking.

Working together in a sprint, you can shortcut the endless-debate cycle and compress months of time into a single week. Instead of waiting to launch a minimal product to understand if an idea is any good, you’ll get clear data from a realistic prototype. The sprint gives you a superpower: You can fast-forward into the future to see your finished product and customer reactions, before making any expensive commitments.

This workshop gives you the insights, knowledge and tools, to run your own Design Sprint.

The impossible Company
Imagine you founded a company without any Investors. From day one, you (as the owner) shared your power of decisionmaking with everybody else; with the employees, with suppliers, with customers, with everybody. The results were devastating: No to written contracts! No to advertising! No to Profits!
16 years later, the company still exists, still sticks to these rules and to many more which seem wrong, if not insane, by common business practices. For example, they offer anti-volume-discounts for smaller customers. They don’t have any fixed working hours, no controls for working hours, no bonuses for good workers, and they don’t have an office. And still, they sell to 200 cities, grow 10 percent per year (if quicker, they hit the brakes), and sell 1,5 million bottles per year. How is that possible?

Gut statt weniger schlecht - intelligentes Produktdesign mit Cradle to Cradle
Limited Capacity full
Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.
