In the session/workshop “Meet Rida – How 360° video can be used for social change” Writer/Director Ricarda Saleh gives insight in the production of the 360° documentary “Lionhearted” about the 8-year old girl Rida. In 2016 Rida fled with her family from Pakistan to Europe. Since then she lives in the self-organised refugee shelter “Hotel City Plaza” in Athens. In the 360° film the viewer can understand the refugee crisis through the eyes of a child. The experience is very intimate and can´t be compared to watching a regular “flat” film. In addition to the presentation of the documentary piece VR filmmaker Ricarda Saleh gives an overview on the possibilities for 360° video for social change. VR and 360° video offer new tools for education and social impact, which are already used by organisations like UN.
