One sized curriculum, one subject area focus, standardized assessments, command and control, no choice are principals of the past. Anyhow these are still issues students and teaches struggle with at schools today. Coming from a time of the industrial revolution these principals are largely outdated. We need to make a paradigm shift in education and prepare children to live a happy and fulfilled life, in which they live up to their potential and get prepared for challenges of the 21st century. Project Based Learning (PBL) prepares students for academic, personal, and career success. It provides relevant learning experiences and readies young people to rise to the challenges of their lives and the world they will inherit. Through PBL students can make meaning in their lives and the lives of others by generating new ideas, solutions and products. The talk will show how Kiel International School aspires a modern learning experience that makes everyone involved come alive and passionate about learning.
Carol started the founding initiative for Kiel International School. She is a personal and organizational development coach and works as a project coordinator for The Bay Areas Network.
