The digital transformation is entering a phase, in which we need more than a few lines of smart code, data skills and apps funded by advertising to be successful. The next generation of innovation will have to create sustainable change to make the digital transformation a success. We need to be more demanding of technology and in the application of technology. It is not enough to call for humanity and societies to become more tech-compatible. This talk will discuss some of the key challenges and areas where complex innovations are needed at the intersection of digital technology and economic and social structures processes. It will ask how smart cities become more than just optimized traffic flows, how robots and humans could cooperate better, how coding becomes an everyday skill, how data can be governed without destroying privacy, what social norms are needed for the singularity and how we could build a big data business model beyond selling commercials.
